The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to allocate an additional 5 billion hryvnias from the reserve fund of the state budget for the implementation of the "Winter is Support" program. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Telegram, noting that these funds will allow to fulfill all submitted applications for assistance so that Ukrainians can receive financial support.
According to him, the money can be spent on communal, medical, educational and other services. At the same time, the government has improved the mechanism of payment of funds for elderly people over 60 years old, persons with disabilities of I and II groups, as well as for disabled persons receiving pension or social assistance through banking institutions. They will receive one thousand hryvnias through Ukrposhta.
In addition, the government has simplified the algorithm of information exchange between institutions implementing the program, which will allow better informing citizens and generalizing data.
The "Winter is Support" program provides a one-time payment of one thousand hryvnias to all citizens of Ukraine who are on its territory. Funds can be spent on a limited list of goods and services, including medicine, utility bills, mobile top-up, sports events and even donating to the Armed Forces. Applications for assistance can be submitted until the end of February 2025, and expenses can be made until the end of the same year.
The Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, also shared statistics on spending money, in particular, on the purchase of books, noting that Ukrainians have already purchased books 75,000 times through the "Winter is Support" program.
