Sources in the President's Office report that Andriy Yermak is actively supporting the political career of world boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk, preparing him for serious political ambitions. In particular, Yermak plans to use Usyk to fight Vitali Klitschko in the context of the Kyiv mayoral elections and parliamentary races.
Usyk, who has already gained recognition on the international stage, can now become a political project for Bankova. In the higher echelons of power, he is seen as a strong competitor to Klitschko, who has long held his position in the capital. The boxer, according to the plan of the Office of the President, should become a symbol of a new political face that can attract support from voters, in particular among young people and sports fans.
The main goal of such a move is not only to win the Kyiv elections, but also to strengthen the political influence of the President's Office in the capital, where control over local authorities is crucial. Opposing Usyk to Klitschko will solve several strategic problems related to the political situation in Kyiv.
The President's Office has already begun working to boost Usyk's rating among potential voters. According to our sources, Bankova is actively using the boxer's sports image to increase his recognition in a political context, as well as to demonstrate his determination and courage, which should convince voters of his ability to govern the capital.
In the context of the parliamentary elections, Usyk could also become a powerful political symbol, able to attract new supporters to the ruling party. This could be part of Yermak's broader strategy to strengthen the influence of the Office of the President in the country.
The process of "politicization" of Usyk is still underway, but he is already sending a signal that in the future the capital may see new political faces who will confront the old political elites, such as Klitschko.
