Ukrainian arms manufacturers are increasing the volume of arms deliveries to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, more than 70% of agreements for the purchase of defense goods signed by the "Defense Procurement Agency" are aimed at domestic manufacturers. This information became known as a result of the working trip of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi to the Khmelnytskyi region on May 4.
"In 2024, 70% of the total amount of agreements concluded by the Defense Procurement Agency will concern Ukrainian manufacturers of arms, ammunition and military equipment. For example, almost all the funds intended for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles were directed to domestic manufacturers," said the head of the "Defense Procurement Agency" Maryna Bezrukova.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirms its intention to continue giving preference to Ukrainian manufacturers in defense procurement. According to them, the more production of weapons to protect the country from Russian threats will be carried out in Ukraine, the better.
Previously, it was reported about the possibility of the entry of American defense enterprises into the Ukrainian market. However, it is necessary to create appropriate conditions for this.
Taras Chmut, a well-known volunteer and head of the Come Back Alive Foundation, noted that Ukrainian defense enterprises can produce three times more products than the state can finance. Therefore, the export of arms to the international market will be a decisive step to resolve this situation. The funds received will be able to be directed to the purchase of weapons that are not produced in Ukraine.
