In Ukrainian higher education institutions there is an increased test of graduate students who could join postgraduate studies for the sole purpose of avoiding mobilization. Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vinnytsky has informed about it.
According to the official, in 2022–2023 there was a sharp increase in the number of entrants to graduate studies, which raised suspicion of the real academic interest of part of the students. Vinnytsky stressed that now the Ministry of Education, together with higher education institutions, checks graduate students for the implementation of curricula and scientific activity.
"Those who are formally enlisted, but do not actually learn - will be deducted," the Deputy Minister said.
As of today, 3,000 graduate students have already been deducted after the full -scale war. And this, according to Vinnytsky, is only the beginning. This figure is expected to increase significantly in the summer.
The ministry emphasizes that postgraduate studies are not a tool for avoiding service in the army, but above all the scientific and educational path, which requires active participation in research, training and writing the dissertation.
