In Odessa, doctors made a real breakthrough in the world cardiac surgery - an eight -month -old boy conducted a unique heart surgery, which was not performed in any country in the world before. The small gleb was implanted by a special electrode that synchronizes the heart and ensures the proper contraction of the muscle.
According to the "public", the boy is now in the intensive care unit, under the supervision of doctors. His condition is stable and parents are full of hopes. The family learned about the heart defect only after the baby is born. It was a blow because the forecasts were disappointing and the risks were extremely high.
The complex combined operation had to involve a team of highly qualified specialists. One of the main tasks - to find a very thin subclavian vein - required jewelry and use of ultrasonic equipment. But most importantly, it is a method of implantation that is radically different from the traditional one.
"We implanted the electrode not in the muscle, as usual, but in the most leading system of the heart," explains the surgeon Yuri Karpenko. - We managed to hit the left leg of the leading system, and we have achieved the perfect electrophysiological result: electrical pulse causes a clear and complete contraction of the heart. In the literature, we have not found any such case in children of this age. "
This case has caused resonance in the medical world - Ukrainian experts have already been invited to the Chicago University to publish experience in leading scientific journals.
“We, like all, use artificial intelligence, Google and databases. That is why we can confidently say that this is the first such case in the world. And it is very nice that he took place in Ukraine, in Odessa, in our hospital, ”the doctor added.
The implanted pacemaker will be able to maintain the boy's heart activity at least 15 years. And although Gleb is still in intensive care, doctors already talk about positive dynamics - the heart works evenly and steadily.
Ukrainian medicine once again proves that it is able to create real miracles even in difficult times. And this case is not only a reason for pride, but also a sign for the whole world: new medical standards are born in Ukraine.
