In Odessa, Ruslan Gupalenko, a commander of the 21st platoon of the fight against underwater-saving forces and means of the Navy, was sentenced to three years in prison. The serviceman was found guilty of systematic bribery and legalization of property obtained by crime.
As it became known from the sentence of the Primorsky District Court, Gupalenko forced his subordinate to collect 30% of additional payments for combat missions from the personnel. In a few months, he received at least $ 4.4 thousand in cash and UAH 67.5 thousand transfer to the card.
In addition, on November 21, 2024, the commander of the part purchased a 2012 Volkswagen Passat car on part of the funds for 7.8 thousand dollars and 4.2 thousand hryvnias, after which he rebuked the car. This operation became the basis for charges of legalization of proceeds from crime.
During the consideration of the case, Gupalenko pleased his guilt and concluded an agreement with the prosecutor. The court took into account sincere repentance, assistance of the investigation and family circumstances - in particular, a serious illness of the mother. At the same time, it was decided to confiscate all the property of the convicted person and prohibit him with the occupation of command positions over the next three years.
Prior to the entry into force of Gupalenko, Gupalenko will remain in custody. It will then be sent to the place of serving.
