In the Odessa region, law enforcement officers detained a group of four people who prepared a terrorist act near the district police department. According to prompt information, the attackers intended to set fire to service cars and undermine a homemade explosive device disguised as a fire extinguisher.

According to the case file, terrorists were going to set fire to several service cars, and then, when the police appeared at the scene of the fire, remotely undermine the homemade explosive device (SVP).
As the investigation was established to implement this plan, the persons involved in the hostel near the object, 4 canisters of gasoline were purchased for the arson, and in the pre -prepared hiding place, the explosive disguised as a fire extinguisher was kept.
The SBU and the National Police detained the malefactors at the stage of preparation for the terrorist attack. Their should be released during the investigation of another crime - the murder of a volunteer from Odessa, which took place on January 20 this year. Then the malefactors set fire to a local activist near his house, and when he went out to extinguish the fire, - they activated the SVP hidden in a backpack that lay nearby
The detainees seized mobile phones with evidence of crimes. In the investigation, the attackers were three drug addicts aged 23 to 45, as well as their 46-year-old accomplice, who previously served their sentences for theft and robbery.
It was found that the recidivist acted separately from the rest of the group and was responsible for the production of SVP and their laying in the hiding places
Currently, the detainees have been suspected under Part 3 of Art. 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act that led to the death of a person). The attackers are in custody. They are threatened with life imprisonment with the confiscation of property.
