In Ukraine, they talked about the introduction of compulsory military service for all citizens - on the example of Israel. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine on defense issues Pavel Palis in an interview with Bihus.info.
Although the issue of women's mobilization is not acute at this time, the Bank's representative has admitted: in the future, the country should think that every citizen - regardless of gender - has passed at least a minimum life.
“No matter how wild it may sound, we may need to study Israel's experience. If a citizen is really a citizen and claims to receive from the state, education, payment from the budget, he should serve, ”Palis said.
Palis emphasized that there is no forced mobilization of women now. But he emphasized that there are many functions in the modern army that not only men can perform. It is not only about combat missions, but also about analytical, technical, logistics, medical and other roles.
“It can be a minimum contract. But every citizen should have the experience of the service - a matter not only of defense, but also of national responsibility, ”Palis said.
In Israel, a conscript service is compulsory for both men and women, and the army is a condition for access to many career opportunities. The Ukrainian authorities do not yet declare its intention to introduce a similar model, but discussions on this topic are becoming more loud.
At the same time, the public does not forget about the other: in Ukraine there is an increase in the number of cases where the accused in corruption avoids the sentence, mobilized to the army. Against this background, conversations about the mandatory service look like an attempt to reformat a social contract without affecting the main problem - inequality in responsibility.
