The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted an important resolution concerning Ukrainian children affected by the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The resolution calls to recognize the deportation of Ukrainian children by Russia as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
It is noted that the initiative regarding this resolution was supported by Ukrainian People's Deputy Olena Khomenko, who is the vice-president of PACE. The resolution was unanimously supported by 85 PACE deputies.
The resolution notes the need to recognize Russia's against Ukrainian children and calls on the parliaments of all Council of Europe member states to recognize the deportation of these children as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
Special attention is given to displaced children, and the resolution calls for increased political and humanitarian support to protect these children. The assembly also emphasizes the need to return children to Ukraine as soon as possible in order to reduce the influence of the Russian regime on them.
The resolution also expressed support for the Bring Kids Back UA initiative and the creation of the International Coalition of Countries for the Return of Ukrainian Children, as well as welcomed the creation of the Center for the Protection of Children's Rights, which operates under the supervision of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights.
This resolution marks an important step in recognizing the rights of Ukrainian children and protecting their future in the context of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
