The issue of women's mobilization causes heated discussions in Ukrainian society. Should the mobilization of Ukrainian women be made mandatory or should it be left voluntary? The head of the Cherkasy TCC and SP Oleg Tymoshenko and other officials express their opinions on this issue, which affects the future of the Ukrainian army and society.
Oleg Tymoshenko believes that Ukrainian women should not be forced to mobilize, but it is necessary to provide them with the opportunity to voluntarily join the army.
"As a targeted mobilization to work to mobilize all women, this is definitely not necessary," Tymoshenko said.
He also confirmed that service of summons to women is already taking place, but it only applies to those who have a military specialty or must register.
Other representatives of the authorities also expressed their positions:
- Lt. Col. GUR Andrii Savenko stated that the mobilization of women should remain voluntary. Forced service for Ukrainian women, in his opinion, undermines public trust:
"If women go to the army forcibly, and men avoid service, it will become a mirror of a crisis society."
- Solomiya Bobrovska , a people's deputy, believes that the forced mobilization of women will not contribute to the strengthening of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In her opinion, such discussions are manipulative and inappropriate in the current conditions.
Is society ready?
The issue of forced mobilization of women is becoming a litmus test of public attitudes. Against the background of war and social challenges, such an initiative can cause significant opposition.
"Fitness boys" cannot avoid service, while women go to the army. This undermines trust in military service," Savenko noted.
Voluntary mobilization of women is a more effective and socially acceptable strategy. Ensuring the right to serve for Ukrainian women without coercion will make it possible to strengthen the Armed Forces without creating additional social tension.
