Contract service in the army is becoming an increasingly attractive alternative to mobilization for Ukrainians. The head of the recruiting and staffing department of the Transcarpathian Military Territorial Center of Staffing and Social Support (VTCC and SP) Serhii Shakhlevych emphasized that one of the key advantages of signing a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AF) is the opportunity to independently choose the place of service and military profession.
"Those who do not wait for a summons can independently choose the military unit they like. Military service on mobilization, with state distribution, cannot offer such a thing," Shakhlevich noted. Contract workers have the opportunity to change professions thanks to active training centers that allow them to adapt their skills to the needs of the army.
Contract workers not only receive stable financial security, but also find brothers and sisters, which is an important aspect of military service. They also have the ability to serve in rear units or special transport units, which can reduce the risks associated with direct combat operations.
As for the fears of not getting into the chosen military unit, Shakhlevich considers them premature. He explained that the military unit sends an appropriate letter of recommendation, which directs the contractor to them, which provides greater confidence in the selection.
Contract service in the Armed Forces becomes not only a way to avoid mobilization, but also an opportunity for Ukrainians to gain new skills and experience by serving in the army on their own terms.
