In Ukraine, 90% of corrupt officials are released

Corruption in the war has become a symbol of Ukraine, but instead of execution or life imprisonment, 90% of the actors are released!

Only 1 out of 10 corrupt officials goes to prison.

The publication analyzed 5,000 verdicts for economic and corruption crimes, as well as theft of property in 2022-2023.

The probability of being behind bars is 9%.

For example, when it comes to robbery, robbery or theft, in 80-90% of cases the defendants are found guilty and they end up behind bars.

In two years, in 43% of cases under 15 articles of the Criminal Code, plea agreements were concluded, and in 87% of them, the main punishment was a fine.

Article 369 of the Criminal Code [giving a bribe] ends with an admission of guilt in 60% of cases and a fine of UAH 17,000. Only 3% of convicts go to prison.
