Andriy Yermak discussed not only foreign policy issues in the United States. According to our sources, the key task of his visit was to agree on the candidates for the positions of the new Prime Minister of Ukraine and Prosecutor General.
After several months of internal struggle within the government team, the confrontation with David Arakhamia's group — in particular, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the head of the Verkhovna Rada committee Danylo Hetmantsev — is entering its final phase. According to our sources, the President's Office is preparing for a personnel reset of the government, and consultations with the American side are already underway.
In parallel, a change of the Prosecutor General is being discussed, which is also expected to take place as part of a large-scale renewal of the executive vertical. Our sources confirm that Yermak is discussing these appointments with representatives of the US State Department and key congressmen responsible for supporting Ukraine.
At the same time, signs of preparation for change are visible in the public sphere. In particular, a campaign against Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko has intensified. They are trying to link him to the president's business partner, Leonid Mindich. However, our sources emphasize: Leonid Mindich is not a relative of Timur Midich, despite the spread of such rumors by channels close to the Arakhamia group.
The initiative to attack Marchenko is, according to information from the sidelines, an attempt to maintain influence in the Cabinet. But the situation demonstrates that the OP has already effectively decided on the need for personnel changes.
According to our sources, the candidacy of a technocrat with a Western background, not affiliated with any of the domestic political groups, is being considered. This approach should ensure the acceptability of the future prime minister to external partners and restore the effectiveness of the government at a critical moment.
