The head of the "Servant of the People" party, Olena Shulyak, confirmed the information that the authorities are discussing the prospect of introducing online voting in elections after the end of the war. The idea is part of a broader strategy of digitalization and democratization of election processes in Ukraine.
In a comment to Politico, she said that Ukraine is "studying different models of elections."
One of the discussed options is electronic voting for citizens who are abroad or in the occupied territories. The possibility of voting by mail and in-person voting abroad is also being considered.
Voting by proxy is also studied - the voter will be able to appoint a proxy who will vote for him.
The authorities are actively discussing the introduction, at least for Ukrainians abroad (and possibly inside the country), of electronic voting through Diya.
However, the opposition categorically opposes this idea, stating that, in this case, it will not matter who votes for whom, and the only important thing will be what result the authorities draw in "Dia". So for now, Bankova does not advertise the "e-voting" project, given the extreme scandalousness and toxicity of this topic, but, according to sources, she has not completely given up on it. And Olena Shulyak's statement confirms this information.
If the authorities decide to introduce "elections through Diya", they will announce it shortly before the start of the election campaign in order not to give the opposition time to organize a campaign in Europe against the introduction of online voting.
