The head of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy of Ukraine, Danylo Getmantsev, warns of the need to revise the tax policy in the country due to the deterioration of the budget situation, which is expected by 2025. He also noted that a possible devaluation of the Ukrainian hryvnia is being considered as one of the options for government measures to supplement the budget.
"Unfortunately, we cannot do without revising taxes, as the budget situation will worsen even more in 2025. Not only because of the increase in spending on the army, which we have to cover on our own, but also because of the uncertainty with international aid. The need for international financing of Ukraine for 2025 is estimated at 32 billion dollars, of which 15 billion dollars we still do not understand what to cover," Hetmantsev said in an interview.
Options for issuance or accelerated devaluation of the hryvnia and redistribution of the balance of local budgets in the amount of up to UAH 155 billion are also being considered. But such options will be resorted to as a last resort, the head of the committee noted.
"Increasing taxes is also a bad decision, there is no debate here, but it is, let's say, the least harmful of all the available ones, and therefore we are waiting for proposals specifically regarding taxation from the Cabinet of Ministers," Hetmantsev added.
