The number of cases of domestic violence has increased sharply in Ukraine

In 2023, the National Police of Ukraine registered more than 291,000 cases of domestic violence. This is 20% more than in 2022. The number of registered criminal offenses increased by 80%, and administrative offenses - by 36%.

The Analytical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs predicts an increase in criminal offenses up to 30% and administrative offenses up to 21% by 2024.

However, within just two months of 2024, 56% more criminal offenses related to domestic violence were registered in Ukraine, and 21% more administrative offenses than in 2023.

At the same time, the Council and the Ministry of Internal Affairs propose, in connection with this, only to strengthen responsibility for committing domestic violence or gender-based violence. If the responsibility will be the same as in the case of a man who beat his wife and daughter in the face, did not appear in court and received a fine of UAH 170, then the effect of its strengthening will be zero.

But no one proposes measures for the rehabilitation and social integration of people with PTSD, starting peace negotiations and ending the war in order to stop the flow of aggression, people with PTSD, morally disabled and mentally incompetent people.
