According to the results of 2024, 495 090 deaths were registered in Ukraine, which is 1 150 less than in 2023. At the same time, the number of births in the country was 176 679, which is much less than deaths. According to the Ministry of Justice, the mortality rate in 2024 almost increased the number of births that led to continuing demographic problems in Ukraine.
As stated in the report, 865 813 civil records were registered in total for 2024, including:
- birth records - 176 679;
- Death records - 495 090;
- Marriage records - 150 210;
- Records of marriage - 34 291, by court decision - 1311;
- Name change records are 9543.
The most birth records were recorded in Kyiv - 19 thousand 706, Lviv region - 15 thousand 642, Dnipropetrovsk region - 14 thousand 29, and the least - in Kherson - 434, Donetsk - 1177 and Zaporizhia - 3176.
Most records of death were recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk region - 53 thousand 268, Kharkiv - 34 thousand 883 and Kiev - 35 thousand 528.
The majority of marriages were registered in Kiev - 20 thousand 862, as well as Kiev is the largest city in terms of the number of registered records for marriage dissolution - 4407.
It should be noted that the report does not indicate the data from the Luhansk region and Crimea.
According to the Ministry of Justice, in 2023 the number of births was 187 387, which is 10 708 more than in 2024. Also, the number of death records in 2023 was 496 240, which is 1150 more than in 2024.
