In Ukraine, blackouts will last the whole winter: how will the situation change

According to the latest statements of government representatives and energy companies, blackouts in Ukraine may last throughout the winter. However, their duration will depend on several key factors, such as weather conditions, the number of attacks on energy facilities and the speed of infrastructure recovery.

Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center, said this. The situation in the power system remains difficult, but manageable. Many infrastructure facilities have been damaged, which complicates the stable supply of electricity.

Even under the most optimistic scenarios, you should prepare for certain inconveniences. In case of successful restoration of power grids, short-term outages lasting 2-4 hours per day are possible. However, in case of worsening weather conditions or new attacks, this time may increase to 12-16 hours per day.
