In Ukraine, a large-scale embezzlement scheme of budget funds allocated for defense needs was revealed, as a result of which more than 1.5 billion hryvnias were stolen from the state budget. A special operation carried out by law enforcement agencies led to the detention of 28 employees from various departments, including the Ministry of Defense, territorial procurement centers (TCC) and city councils.
This was reported in the Office of the General Prosecutor (OGP). It was noted there that the following employees were involved in the embezzlement of funds:
Ministry of Defense;
military units;
TCC and JV;
regional military administrations;
city councils;
directors of enterprises in many regions of Ukraine.
Based on the results of the investigation, 28 persons were notified of suspicion. 9 of them are part of organized criminal groups.
"Among the suspects are the head of one of the departments of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the head of the TCC and SP in Donetsk region, more than 7 employees of military units in Donetsk, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv and Cherkasy regions, 5 employees of city councils in Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as representatives of commercial structures", said the OGP.
At present, the question of choosing preventive measures for the suspect is being resolved. Investigative actions in criminal proceedings are ongoing.
