The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Mykhailo Vinnytskyi, reported that 23,400 men over the age of 30 were expelled from the country's higher educational institutions during the period from April to August this year. This happened during the war, when many students of draft age were forced to leave their studies in order to fulfill their duties in the framework of mobilization or for other reasons related to the current situation in the country.
He believes that these men did not plan to study, but wanted to evade mobilization in this way.
"Reasons for expulsion are failure to succeed, absence from classes, etc. It is obvious that those "students" who did not actually plan to be students, but wanted to use this status to avoid other responsibilities, were excluded," Vinnytskyi writes.
Criminal cases have been opened against many officials of higher education institutions, and a number of universities have been deprived of their licenses to conduct educational activities.
