The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) together with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) have detected and stopped a serious corruption attempt related to an attempt to appoint individuals to management positions in the territorial bodies of the State Customs Service of Ukraine for bribery. A group of individuals tried to organize corruption schemes through these positions.
They offered from $1 million to $200,000 for the positions.
This was reported by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, $1 million was offered for the position of head of the Lviv Customs, and the positions of heads of the Volyn and Chernivtsi Customs were estimated at $500,000 and $200,000, respectively.
In addition, the group members counted on the fact that the leadership of the State Customs Service would not notice corruption schemes at these customs offices in exchange for half of the illegally obtained income.
Two persons were reported as suspected under Part 2 of Article 15, Part 4 of Article 27 and Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the initiator of the crime was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
