According to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in the first half of this year, China became the largest supplier of imported goods to Ukraine, while Poland was the largest exporter from the country.
Ukraine recorded a negative balance of foreign trade at the level of 13.7 billion US dollars for the first half of 2024. This means that the volume of imported goods exceeded the volume of their export abroad.
Ukraine exported goods worth 19.5 billion dollars. The main buyer countries are Poland ($2 billion), Spain ($1.6 billion) and China ($1.6 billion).
The main article of export is food (12.4 billion). Metals and mineral products follow.
Imports amounted to 33.2 billion dollars. Goods were imported from China (6.4 billion dollars), Poland (3.7 billion dollars) and Germany (2.6 billion dollars).
The main items of import are machines, equipment and transport (11.4 billion dollars), products of the chemical industry (5.9 billion dollars), fuel (4.3 billion dollars).
Interestingly, 14% of imports were not taxed. Taxes on the rest of imports increased by 10% compared to the previous half-year.
