In January 2025, a record number of closed entrepreneurs (FOP) was recorded in January 2025. After a break that lasted almost a month through non -working registers, 61 455 FOPs were closed in a few weeks, while only 21 358 entrepreneurs were opened a new business. It happened against the background of the increase in the tax burden, which negatively affected the country's business climate.
Before that, since March 2022, the situation was reversed: more than a month more than closed. In total, during the full -scale war, 763 759 new FOPs opened, but at the same time 684,995 entrepreneurs closed their affairs.
Entrepreneurs who opened the business after the start of the war were chosen mainly retail trade (28.1%of all new FOPs), as well as the IT-sphere (9.1%) and wholesale trade (7.2%). The increase in the number of new FOPs is also observed in areas such as post office and courier activity, education and finance.
It is interesting that the war and mobilization have changed the gender balance of entrepreneurship in Ukraine. If, in January 2022, every new FOP was opened by women, now their share has increased to 61%. Most of the female entrepreneurship among new FOPs is observed in Khmelnitsky, Kirovograd and Poltava regions. Women are more engaged in business, education and clothing, while men dominate construction, transport and logistics.
Most new FOPs were registered in Kiev (108 536), in Dnipropetrovsk (68 377) and Lviv region (60 009).
