Temporary emergency power outages have been introduced in Ukraine. Restrictions apply in four regions - Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and the city of Kyiv. From now on, the lights will be turned off without a previous schedule, in emergency mode.
This is stated in the message of DTEK. "Unfortunately, the difficult situation in the energy system after the shelling of the Russian Federation continues. Therefore, according to the instructions of Ukrenergo, emergency shutdowns are applied," the company notes.
Ukrainians should distinguish between the types of power outages, because if you have a power outage, this does not necessarily mean the use of hourly outages. There are two main regimes of energy supply restrictions in Ukraine:
- schedules of emergency shutdowns (ESH), aka emergency blackouts: they are introduced without warning in the event of an emergency power shortage in the power system;
- schedules of hourly outages (hourly outages), also known as stabilization outages or scheduled outages: they have a clearly defined period of operation and are introduced when there is a projected power deficit in the power system.
In Kyiv, for each household consumer, the hours of the day are divided into three categories depending on the mode of electricity supply. In the graphs, these categories are color-coded:
- white color: there is light (provided there are no shelling and accidents);
- dark gray color: guaranteed disconnection (applies to hourly schedules);
- light gray color: possible disconnections (applies to hourly schedules).
The guaranteed blackout lasts up to 4 hours, and the guaranteed availability of electricity lasts for 2 hours. The maximum time without light for each group can be up to 18 hours per day, with guaranteed outages totaling between 9 and 12 hours per day, depending on the day of the week.
