Businessman Kropachev, who owns assets in the coal business, was detained in Ukraine

On May 17, Ukrainian law enforcement officers announced the arrest of businessman Vitaly Kropachev, who owns assets in the coal, gas, energy, and media sectors. This information was confirmed by the State Bureau of Investigation.

Representatives of the SBI confirmed the fact of the detention, adding that further investigative actions are ongoing. The reasons for the arrest have not yet been released, but law enforcement officers promise to provide more information later.

Vitaly Kropachev is the owner of the company "Ukrdoninvest", which is engaged in coal and gas production. In recent years, he has actively expanded his business interests, buying up companies in various industries, including engineering, construction and transportation. In addition, he also acquired media assets, including TV channels and a digital multiplex operator.

Previously, law enforcement officers had already investigated his involvement in a scheme related to the control of state purchases in the coal industry, which led to losses for the state budget. The investigation noted overpayments for equipment in the amount of over 51 million hryvnias.

It is also worth noting that the State Property Fund of Ukraine has announced its intention to privatize a number of facilities, including the Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky port. Previous attempts to hold auctions failed due to the lack of interested participants.
