Since the beginning of the full-scale war, alimony debts in Ukraine have increased significantly. According to Opendatabot, the number of proceedings against alimony debtors has increased by 14% since the beginning of the war. As of the beginning of August 2024, almost 190,000 proceedings were recorded in the Unified Register of Debtors.
Since the beginning of 2024, 2.8 thousand new proceedings for alimony debts have been added in Ukraine. The total number of such proceedings as of the beginning of August this year is 187,246. For more than two years of full-scale war, the Register has been replenished by 23,376 proceedings. Almost 3,000 new proceedings have been opened since the beginning of the year.
The absolute majority of alimony debtors are men. According to the data, 91% of all proceedings involve men, while women account for only 9% of arrears.
Since 2021, Dnipro Oblast has taken the first place in terms of the number of proceedings due to alimony debts. This region is constantly in the lead for this indicator, which indicates serious problems with the fulfillment of alimony obligations in this region.
