The Ukrainian company Rover Tech has introduced a new demining machine called “Zmiy” , which has successfully passed all the necessary tests and received a certificate of conformity, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine reports.
Deputy Minister of Economy Ihor Bezkaravayny called this development “a unique solution in Ukrainian conditions.” “Zmiy” is a light and fast vehicle that can withstand an anti-tank mine. It is designed to clear fields of fragmentation and high-explosive munitions, which pose a particular danger to sappers.
One of the key advantages of the “Snake” is the ability to quickly replace damaged components after an explosion, which allows the machine to quickly return to work. In addition, the “Snake” has a low cost compared to foreign analogues - from 14.5 to 20 thousand dollars, depending on the configuration. In the case of launching mass production, the price may be even lower.
The machine weighs over one ton, and the width of its working tool is 1.35 meters. The “Snake” is capable of clearing up to 2.5 hectares per hour, which makes it a highly efficient tool for quickly clearing large areas. The operator can control the machine at a distance of up to 2.9 kilometers, which provides additional safety during work.
One of the important features of the “Snake” is its ability to be quickly deployed. The machine can be prepared for operation in about 15 minutes. It can be easily transported using a trailer, which makes it convenient for use in various conditions.
