The number of desertion cases is increasing in Ukraine

During the full-scale war with Russia, almost 90,000 cases of voluntary desertion and desertion were opened in Ukraine. These alarming statistics indicate serious problems facing the Ukrainian army and society as a whole.

More than half of them were opened in the incomplete year 2024 - 59,606. Only 4,698 proceedings reached the court, 2,592 were closed.

Among the regions, the leader is the Donetsk region (8,574), where the heaviest fighting continues.

Specifically, 29,521 cases of desertion have been opened since 2022. 442 were brought to court, almost as many were closed - 414.

Previously, military officer Volodymyr Boyko said that the real number of deserters is estimated at 170,000, but it is not always the case that the proceedings are registered.
