In Ukraine, the "Characteristics" battalion was formed from former prisoners who served sentences in places of deprivation of liberty.
This was announced in the Telegram channel of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo.
Recruits who took the military oath are noted for their patriotism and readiness to defend Ukraine. They also have considerable experience, including combat.
"These volunteers decided to exercise their right to atonement and join the army to defend our land from the invaders," the message said.
The "Characteristics" battalion plans to begin combat missions in the near future and demonstrate its military capabilities on the battlefield.
In Ukraine, the law on the voluntary mobilization of prisoners, approved by the parliament, has already begun to operate. However, the law has a number of nuances and not everyone will be able to defend the state. Those convicted of crimes against the foundations of Ukraine's national security will not be able to mobilize.
