With the onset of heat in Ukraine, reptiles are traditionally activated - in particular, poisonous snakes. The Ministry of Health urges citizens to be vigilant during the walks in nature, as there may be three types of poisonous vipers in different regions of the country.
The most common is the common viper - it can be seen in Polissya, the Carpathians and places in the forest -steppe zone. It has a recognizable zigzag strip on the back.
Rarely - a steppe viper. This type is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. It can be found mainly in the steppes, in particular in the south of the country, often within the nature reserves.
The third species - Nikolsky's viper - is almost completely black, which is also protected. It lives mainly in the northeast of Ukraine, in the forest -steppe zone.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that these snakes are mostly not aggressive and avoid contact with people. They can only attack if they feel threatened. The bite of viper rarely poses a threat to a healthy person, but it can be extremely dangerous for children, people with chronic diseases or allergies.
Doctors emphasize that in the case of a snake bite, you should seek medical help immediately, not try to extract the poison yourself or make cuts yourself.
The Ministry of Health urges citizens to exercise caution, especially when staying in forests, steppes and in the southern territories of Ukraine, where the likelihood of meeting a poisonous reptile is increasing.
