The Supervisory Board of the joint-stock company "Ukrainian Defense Industry" appointed Oleh Hulyak as the new general director. This decision was made after a careful selection of candidates carried out by the international company Odgers Berndtson, which specializes in the search of senior executives. More than 20 people applied for the position, among which only three candidates reached the final stage of the interview.
A feature of this process was the involvement of representatives of the embassies of the USA, Great Britain and Germany, which emphasizes the international importance of the position of the general director of the largest Ukrainian defense concern. According to the Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin, Oleg Gulyak has a deep understanding of the needs of the Ukrainian military and has significant experience in the logistics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Experience and achievements of Oleg Hulyak
Oleg Gulyak has more than 30 years of service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, starting in 1993, when he was the deputy commander of a reconnaissance company. He was the commander of the peacekeeping contingent in Iraq, led the 95th Airmobile Brigade and the Odessa Military Academy, and also held key logistical positions in military operations.
Before his appointment, Gulyak worked as an adviser to the general director on military cooperation at Ukroboronprom, which allowed him to better understand the internal structure of the company and its cooperation with the Ukrainian military.
Main tasks in the new position
As CEO, Oleg Gulyak has several key tasks, including:
- Increasing the production of military equipment;
- Completion of reforms in the state sector of the defense-industrial complex;
- Building an effective anti-corruption infrastructure.
The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukroboronprom, David Lomdzharia, emphasized that Hulyak's many years of experience in the Ministry of Defense make him an ideal candidate for the further development of Ukraine's defense industry.
