During the eleven months of 2023, the Joint-Stock Company "Ukrzaliznytsia" carried out the transportation of discounted passengers by rail transport in the territory of the Kharkiv region, receiving for this the sum of 21.3 million hryvnias. This was reported by the press service of the carrier in accordance with the request of the mass media.
It is noted that the local government paid only 21% of the total amount for the services provided to privileged categories of the population, which is 4.5 million hryvnias for the specified period.
The report also states that the regional branch "Southern Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" suffered losses in the amount of 1.385 billion hryvnias for the nine months of 2023 from the transportation of passengers in suburban traffic. The branch serves not only Kharkiv region, but also Poltava, Sumy, and some districts of Chernihiv and Luhansk regions.
It is noted that since January 1, 2017, the costs of compensatory payments for preferential travel for certain categories of citizens are included in local budget expenditures in accordance with the amendments to the Budget Code of Ukraine.
During the indicated period last year, JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" put into operation three updated electric trains, which are already running on the territory of Kharkiv region, providing communication between Kharkiv and Poltava, as well as connecting Lozova, Krasnograd and Ogultsi with Poltava and Kremenchuk.
