The Ukrainian government is on the verge of major personnel changes that could significantly shake up the country's political landscape. According to sources close to the President's Office, the process of replacing key figures in the Cabinet of Ministers is already being actively discussed.
All these changes are taking place against the backdrop of a number of serious factors, in particular, changes in the political situation in the United States, as well as the worsening situation with corruption within the country.
One of the main reasons for such changes is the victory of Donald Trump in the US presidential election. Trump, as is known, aims to review policy towards Ukraine, and one of his demands is the replacement of those Ukrainian officials who are associated with the Biden administration and the Democratic Party. Trump has repeatedly stated the need to fight corruption, particularly in Ukraine, believing that some of the political elites are part of corrupt schemes that include the “split” of American aid.
The worsening corruption situation in Ukraine also adds drama to these events. In January 2025, the media reported on large-scale embezzlement in the Ministry of Infrastructure worth over $120 million, and this is just one of the many schemes currently being investigated. According to representatives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), this is just the tip of the iceberg.
In addition, according to Western analysts, Trump plans to initiate an audit of the military aid that the United States has provided to Ukraine. In 2024, this amount amounted to about $ 48 billion, but there is a suspicion that some of this money was spent for other purposes. This situation creates additional difficulties for the Ukrainian government, since accusations of misuse of aid could be a serious blow to the country's reputation in the international arena.
The upcoming resignations are expected to affect both ministers and senior officials in the President’s Office. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Andriy Yermak will try to present these changes as a necessary “cleansing of ranks,” but in reality they will be forced to make concessions to the US in order to maintain at least minimal support from Washington. This could lead to serious political and personnel changes in the country, which are likely to change the balance of power in the coming months.
