AK-74 assault rifles from the Armed Forces of Ukraine mysteriously disappeared in Zaporizhzhia

A serious security breach occurred in Zaporizhzhia, connected with the disappearance of almost 1,400 AK-74 assault rifles from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This theft was discovered during an inspection conducted by the Eastern Office of the State Audit Service in Zaporizhia Oblast after an internal official investigation.

The suspect in the case is an officer of the security department, a freelance chief of the RAO service. He was allegedly negligent in registering the property, which led to the loss of the weapon.

Experts estimated the value of the lost property at 4.25 million hryvnias. The major of the ZSU was charged with suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 425 of the Criminal Code.
