The Court of Appeal of the Supreme Anti -Corruption Court (VAKS) made a decision on the in absentia arrest of former MP George Logvinsky. He is suspected of organizing a large -scale corruption scheme, through which the budget of Ukraine has lost more than UAH 54 million.
According to the Corruption Center, this decision was the result of satisfying the appeal of the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor's Office to the previous decision of Judge Larisa Zadorozhnaya. She had previously found the suspicion of Logvin's "lowly reasonable". But the appeal decided otherwise - the correspondence arrest became possible.
The case has been investigated since March 2020. According to the investigation, Logvinsky organized a scheme, resulting in the state "lost" the case in the ECtHR and was forced to compensate for 54.1 million UAH of Golden Mandarin Oil, which had no real grounds for payment. This company is associated with the exnarde.
Interestingly, Logvinsky used immunity for a long time, because his wife worked in the European Court of Human Rights. Only after this defense stopped, did NABU and SAP formally inform him of suspicion - in July 2023. At that moment he was already abroad.
After several refusals in court, the final decision was made by the WACS appeal, canceling all previous blocks. Currently, Logvinsky is the seventh suspect of Golden Mandarin and is on the international wanted list.
