By Decree No. 309/2024, published by the Office of the President, Volodymyr Zelensky decided to dismiss General Valeriy Zaluzhny from military service due to his health condition. The decree gives the general the right to wear military uniform after retirement.
By decision of President Zelensky, General Valeriy Zaluzhny was removed from the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on February 8, 2024. He was replaced in this position by Colonel General Oleksandr Syrsky.
Recall that Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously approved the candidacy of former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny for the position of Ukraine's Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
