President Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the candidacy of former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny for the position of Ambassador of Ukraine to Great Britain. According to Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President, it is expected that Zaluzhny will begin his duties in the new position in the coming weeks.
Podolyak emphasized that the procedures of agreement (the government's preliminary agreement to accept a certain person as the head of a diplomatic mission) and protocol issues have already been agreed. He added that some organizational issues still need attention.
"I believe that this issue should be resolved within a few weeks. Some logistical aspects are still under consideration," Podolyak noted.
The adviser to the head of the President's Office emphasized that he saw no reason to politicize the appointment of Zaluzhnyi and called on citizens to be calm about issues of resignations or rotations in management personnel.
We will remind that on February 8, President Zelenskyy dismissed Valery Zaluzhny from the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and appointed Oleksandr Syrsky to this position. The President also noted that Zaluzhnyi himself expressed his desire to work in the diplomatic field.
