The U.S. State Department strongly condemned a new wave of Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian cities. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said the United States expresses its deepest condolences to the victims and their families, and President Donald Trump is committed to ending the war.
" The President has made it clear that the escalating Russian attacks are abhorrent. We strongly condemn the escalation of strikes and express our deepest condolences to the victims and families of those killed ," Bruce said during a briefing.
According to her, in recent weeks the United States has been recording new records in the scale of Russian air attacks, which is causing concern in Washington.
Tammy Bruce emphasized that Trump has a clear priority — to stop the deaths in Ukraine:
" He will do everything he can to end this war and any other war he has a chance to end ," the State Department spokeswoman emphasized.
At the same time, the US recognizes that the process of stopping the war is complex and takes time:
" We understand that these things require patience. But we are also disappointed that more progress has not been made yet ," she added.
This is not the first statement by the US administration that signals growing concern about the pace of hostilities in Ukraine and attempts at a diplomatic settlement. Against the backdrop of increasing Russian attacks, this topic is once again at the forefront of US foreign policy.
