British Foreign Secretary David Cameron announced that the United Kingdom and its Western allies plan to provide assistance to Ukraine for a long period of time and will strongly demonstrate this to Russia. He made the statement during a debate in the House of Commons on Tuesday, January 9.
Cameron expressed confidence that the commitment of Great Britain and its allies to demonstrate in detail to Putin that they are ready to support Ukraine for a long period. "We are ready to provide this support for the 24th, 25th, 26th years, because this is a challenge for our generation. We don't go into numbers about shells and the rest, but if you take into account the GDP of the coalition countries, we are ahead of Russia by 25 times, so we should not underestimate the possibility of building our own industrial base," Cameron noted.
Answering questions about the possible impact of the war between Israel and Hamas on international support for Ukraine, Cameron noted that this situation "definitely diverts attention from Ukraine." He expressed hope that the strongest supporters of Ukraine, including Great Britain, will do everything possible to keep this issue on the agenda for a long time, so that the partnership and coalition of countries supporting Ukraine remain stable, united and purposeful. Cameron also noted that Great Britain will "absolutely" continue its support to Ukraine, differing in this from some other countries, where it may become the object of political disputes.
