Despite the statement of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine about the readiness of the draft law on demobilization, its implementation remains an open question. People's deputy from "Servant of the People" Fedir Venislavskyi said that mass dismissal of military personnel in the next three months should not be expected. This is due to a number of factors that influence decision-making in this matter.
Today, the number of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is approximately one million people. However, only a few hundred thousand take direct part in hostilities. This means that a significant part of the military performs tasks in the rear or in other directions, which requires a detailed analysis of the effectiveness of their work.
One of the key reasons for the delay in the adoption of the draft law is the need to develop mechanisms for replacing a significant number of demobilized people. The Ministry of Defense is currently working on:
- audit of the efficiency of the rear units;
- improvement of the recruiting system;
- searching for ways to attract new soldiers to the ranks of the Armed Forces.
According to Venislavskyi, the adoption of the draft law will require serious political and military consultations. Any decisions that may weaken the country's defense capability are subject to lengthy discussions both at the level of the Ministry of Defense and in the parliament.
In three months, as the representatives of the Ministry of Defense note, the draft law can be presented in the parliament. However, its adoption will depend on the coordination of positions between different political forces and the analysis of its impact on the country's defense capability.
