The Deputy Head of the Office of the President, Iryna Vereshchuk, called the statement that thousands of internally displaced persons are returning to territories not controlled by Ukraine false.
According to Vereshchuk, there is no confirmed data on the mass return of displaced persons and there cannot be. She accused individual officials and politicians of spreading these claims to create sensational headlines.
"Such statements create the impression that living in the occupation is better than in Ukraine. This is a subversive and criminal narrative that helps the enemy," Vereshchuk said.
Although Vereshchuk admitted that state support for displaced persons remains insufficient, she emphasized that this is not the main reason that could encourage people to return to the occupied territories.
"Instead of spreading false information, I urge you to focus on real assistance to displaced people," stressed the deputy head of the OP.
Iryna Vereshchuk appealed to the authors of such statements, stressing that their words only harm Ukraine's information security. She also suggested finding other topics to focus on instead of speculating on immigrants.
