The draft law on ensuring the rights of servicemen and policemen to social protection was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during its meeting on March 21, People's Deputies Iryna Friz and Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported.
The draft law aimed at improving the mechanisms for ensuring the rights of military personnel and police officers, in particular, in the areas of information access, medical care and recreation, received the support of 296 people's representatives in the second reading.
The explanatory note to the draft law states that it provides for the possibility of treating servicemen for 12 months, including abroad, without the need for periodic medical examinations every 4 months.
According to the draft law, in the event of the death of a serviceman, his family has the right to receive a monetary payment in the amount of 15 million hryvnias. Norms restricting the freedom of speech of servicemen and policemen in social networks were also rejected, as well as a ban on the appointment of UOC priests of the Moscow Patriarchate to the positions of military chaplains.
Iryna Friz also noted that the norms regulating the import of humanitarian aid were rejected in the draft law, as they are already regulated by the relevant legislation.
