Ukrainians are expected to warm but dry spring, forecasters are forecast. The average temperature will be 1-2 ° C higher than the climatic rate, and rainfall may be three times lower than usual. This can have a negative impact on agriculture, in particular due to the lack of moisture in the soil and possible early frosts.
This was reported by the head of the department of applied meteorology and climatology of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute of the SESA Vira Balabukh.
Meteorologists predict an abnormally warm spring in Ukraine, which will last from March to May 2025. According to the European Center for Medium-term weather forecasts, the air temperature in early spring can be 1-2 degrees above the climatic norm. Such anomaly will affect weather conditions in different regions of Ukraine.
At the same time, despite the warm air, the country may face serious problems due to the lack of sufficient rainfall. It is expected that during the season they will fall three times less than usual, which will affect the agricultural sector of the country.
In March, the temperature will fluctuate from +5 to +7 degrees to the south of Odessa region and Transcarpathia, and from +3 to +4 in eastern Ukraine. In April, the average temperature will exceed +10 degrees, which will contribute to active vegetation. In the south, the temperature is up to +12 degrees, and in the north and east - about +11 degrees.
Particularly important for agrarians will be the temperature in May, when the average air temperature reaches +15 degrees, and in the southwest of the country - up to +17 degrees.
However, given the fever, Ukraine is increasing the likelihood of sharp colds, especially in Polissya and in the forest -steppe zones, which can lead to frost. Meteorologists warn that this will be critical for early crops that will start vegetation much earlier.
Additionally, serious rainfall in the northern regions of Ukraine is projected, where the amount of rain may be much lower than normal. In total, the country can reach only 100 millimeters per season, which is characteristic of the southern steppes.
These changes in weather conditions can significantly affect agriculture, in particular the yield and providing water resources for irrigation.
We will remind, in the coming days there will be frosty weather in Ukraine, but by the end of the week in a number of regions the temperature will start to rise to small "advantages". There is little rainfall, but ice will be stored on the roads.
