Chernivtsi Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region, together with the police and the Security Service of Ukraine, reported suspicion of one of the colonels of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the officer is involved in the waste of public funds during the purchase of timber for the needs of the army. It is about abuse that caused losses of over UAH 2.9 million.
According to official information, the actions of the colonel qualify under Part 4 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - "appropriation, misappropriation of property or seizure by abuse of office, committed in a particularly large size or organized group."
Law enforcement officers have already appealed to the court with a request for a pre -trial detention. If the blame is proved, the military threatens from five to eight years in prison with a possible deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions.
