Mobilization in Ukraine in August is taking place under a new draft law that came into force on May 18. According to this law, citizens liable for military service, including women, must update their data in the CCC. Those who ignore this requirement may face serious consequences. However, mobilization of women, including medics, remains voluntary.
Women's mobilization in August - what will change?
In August, female doctors will still have to register for military service. This usually happens while they are still at university. Women in other professions can register if they wish.
Mobilization of doctors remains voluntary, and they can even refuse to sign a contract under certain circumstances. Women with medical specialties were required to update their military registration data and undergo a medical examination on an equal basis with men. Those who did not do this by July 18 may be fined in August. The fine for failure to appear at the CCC ranges from 17,000 to 25,000 hryvnias.
In addition to fines, violators will not be able to find employment or work in the medical field unless they register with the CCC. Employers can report to military enlistment offices about female workers with medical education who are not registered.
Who is subject to mobilization and can they travel abroad?
Women with medical specialties are considered conscripts. The list of professions includes physical therapy, medical and psychological rehabilitation, public health, physical rehabilitation, industrial pharmacy, dentistry, nursing and other medical specialties. Having a medical education obliges women to register, regardless of whether they work in their profession.
Female military personnel who fight on a contract basis, as well as civil servants, cannot travel abroad. The rest of Ukrainian women, including conscripted doctors, are exempted.
A new draft law on mobilization in Ukraine requires women in medical specialties to update their military registration data. While mobilization remains voluntary for them, failure to comply could result in fines and other restrictions. This underscores the importance of adhering to the law and taking a responsible approach to military registration.
