In the Lviv region, the court issued a sentence to a serviceman who left his part during his service. The event occurred in August 2024, when the native of the Ternopil region left the military unit and did not return until January 31, 2025. During this time, the man did not perform his duties, which became the basis for criminal proceedings.
During the pre -trial investigation, the accused concluded an agreement with the prosecutor of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor's Office, pleasing his guilt. The court confirmed his guilt in the unauthorized leave of the part and imposed a punishment in the form of five years in prison. It is known that the sentence can be appealed in the Court of Appeal.
This is an example of the fight against disciplinary violations in the Armed Forces of Ukraine during martial law, where the issue of responsibility of the military becomes even more relevant.
Against the background of this case, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine also proposes a new contract "Contract 18-24", which provides an annual service for young people aged 18 to 24 years with financial guarantees up to UAH 2 million. It includes not only significant rewards, but also social guarantees, NATO standards, which can be an important step to engage young people in service.
