Russian occupation forces continue to try to break through the defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in eastern Ukraine, in particular in the Donetsk region. Heavy fighting is taking place near the town of Vugledar, where, according to a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Kyrylo Sazonov, the situation is becoming increasingly critical. On the air of the “Kyiv24” channel, he reported on the intensity of enemy attacks in this region.
“The last few days have been very difficult, the enemy has focused all its efforts on the Donetsk region, trying to advance in all directions, as it was in 2022. They have pulled up everything they could — both equipment and manpower,” said Sazonov.
The situation is particularly tense in the Kurakhiv direction, where the enemy has been trying to advance in recent days after unsuccessful attempts to capture Pokrovsk and Mirnograd. According to Sazonov, the Russians are shelling these cities, but further movement in this direction is impossible for them. “They are fighting for small pieces of territory, but they cannot achieve significant success,” the military officer added.
However, the heaviest fighting is taking place around Vugledar. The occupiers are attacking from two sides, which poses a threat to the logistics of the Ukrainian troops. “The guys are holding out, but the situation is very difficult,” Sazonov noted.
In addition, Russian troops are actively trying to break through to Kurakhove, in particular, by storming Gostre and entering from the north. The defense of this direction is complicated by the fact that the territory consists mainly of steppes, which gives the enemy a certain advantage in battles.
Ukrainian military personnel continue to defend key positions, despite the enemy's intense offensive and the critical situation in certain regions of the Donetsk region.
