Ukraine is taking new measures to strengthen discipline and military security, announcing a quarantine for citizens who do not have military duties wearing military uniforms.
Under the new rules, Ukrainian citizens who wear military uniforms with military insignia can be fined or forced to perform community service. This measure applies in Ukraine even in peacetime, not limited to periods of martial law.
Back in 2019, the article “Illegal wearing of military uniforms with insignia of military personnel” was added to the Code of Administrative Offenses. If you are wearing a “pixel”, and even with patches belonging to one of the combat formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this may result in a fine of 150-200 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens.
Today, it is 2,250–3,400 UAH. However, law enforcement officers can limit themselves to a warning and confiscate a uniform that a citizen, by law, does not have the right to wear in a public place.
In case of a repeated offense within a year, the fine will be 3,400–6,800 UAH. Administrative work for a period of 30 to 40 hours may also be applied as a disciplinary measure. The form, again, will be confiscated.
National Police officers can detain a citizen who is walking around the city in a military uniform with insignia without having the legal right to do so. They will draw up a report for further prosecution of the violator.
Let us remind you that, according to Ukrainian laws, military uniforms can be worn by:
military personnel;
those subject to military service during their military service;
reservists;
cadets;
high school students.
If a military person has been discharged to the reserve or has retired altogether, then while retaining the right to wear a military uniform, he may also wear it when visiting public places.
