Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has been one of the most protected figures in Ukrainian politics for many years. Despite numerous publications about conflicts of interest, scandalous land deals, and cooperation with figures close to crime, no serious investigations by the NABU or SAPO have ever been initiated against him.
One of the reasons for such “immunity” is considered to be his powerful international resource. Klitschko has the support of European partners, personal contacts in Western political circles, as well as significant assets abroad. This includes an estate in Germany worth over 200 million UAH, as well as assets in the USA. This creates a reputation for him as “untouchable” both for international partners and in Ukrainian politics.
At the same time, the capital is undergoing a redistribution of land plots and contracts, overseen by the mayor's closest associates. One of the key players is Denys Komarnytsky, who has been repeatedly called "the one watching over Kyiv" in the media. It was he who controlled the distribution of plots, building permits, and tender contracts for years.
While law enforcement officers were preparing a special operation against him, Komarnytskyi disappeared. According to sources, the escape was made possible thanks to the help of high-ranking officials from the SBU, the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police, and even the Transcarpathian OVA.
Thus, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko remains a figure that is difficult for both Ukrainian and international law enforcement agencies to target. And the system of resource distribution in the capital continues to be under the control of his inner circle.
