Carpathian wind energy: an alternative to Russian gas. Ukraine plans to build unique high-altitude wind power plants

Despite the full-scale war and attacks by the Russian Federation on power plants, hydroelectric plants and substations, Ukraine strives to provide its citizens with comfort and safety by switching to renewable energy sources. One of the directions is planning the installation of new high-altitude wind power plants (WEP). This will not only provide safe energy for citizens, but also help reduce dependence on Russian gas, which is used to blackmail European countries.

Our European partners, who have started building wind farms and use alternative energy sources, have chosen a similar course. Ukraine plans to finance alternative energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

The installation of wind farms shows our commitment to the Energy Strategy until 2050. This will help restore the energy sector, increase the energy security of Ukraine and Europe.

Wind energy is safe and environmentally friendly, as it is not accompanied by harmful emissions and, unlike traditional energy sources, is unlimited. In Ukraine, it is planned to install wind power plants in windy areas, in particular in the Carpathians.

Recently, the company "Friendly Wind Technology" installed the first wind turbine on the border of Zakarpattia and Lviv regions, and it is planned to arrange up to 30 more such wind power plants in the Runa valley.

The experience of other countries shows the success of installing wind power plants in the mountains. For example, in 2017, the European Commission announced the launch of a wind power plant in Austria. The European Commission emphasizes the importance of this step as part of the EU's strategy to combat climate change.

An important stage in the development of wind energy is its successful implementation in China and Sweden. In the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, the world's highest high-altitude wind farm has been created, which provides energy to the city of Nagku.

Sweden is also investing significant efforts in the development of wind energy and plans to switch completely to renewable energy sources by 2040. Currently, the largest wind farm in Europe, Markbygden, is being built there, which will have a capacity of more than 4 GW upon completion.

Implementation of wind energy projects in Ukraine and abroad will bring a number of benefits, including the creation of new jobs, increased income from the sale of electricity and additional revenues to local budgets, as well as preservation of a clean environment.
